HBA U30 v Cambridgeshire – 3rd June 2007 @ Roebuck BC

It was a different story this season when Cambridgeshire visited Roebuck BC. Last season saw the Hertfordshire team defeated in the league on all three rinks. This season was a very different story with Hertfordshire winning on rinks skipped by Simon Burgess and James Mann. The rink skipped by Dave Oliver was in trouble all through the game with England U25 International Robert Drew leading very well and giving our lads a headache. At 13 ends the game was tight with a difference of 6 shots. However, our lads failed to score another end and were well beaten. Cambridge were looking to win following our victory in the two fours but I was extremely pleased to see us compete with them in the league this season. A marked improvement on last season. We also had a friendly rink competing whilst this match was being played with three of our newer players playing a rink from Cambridgeshire. Cambridgeshire won this match but the lads enjoyed a competitive match and it gave a chance for our coach to study the play and offer some useful advice to the newer players.
