OWLS BOWLS CLUB

Many of you will know that the timber framed club house originally built by club members in the 1960’s was burnt down by vandals in September 2003 and was re-built by Watford Council from the insurance money. We supplemented the available funds so as to add some four foot to the depth of the building which means we can now comfortably accommodate six rink matches. It is great to be able to play club matches at home after two years playing all our friendlies away

We managed to get some coverage in the local press and held an Open Day on Saturday 17th June. Luckily it was a beautiful sunny day and many of our members not only supported the venture but thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon. There was a lively atmosphere and five people who had seen the article came along to try their hand. Two have already joined and one played in his first match yesterday (24 June). We have had one additional contact from the article since the date of the Open Day but are still hoping for our first lady to play.
