Divisional Semi's & Final at North Watford B.C. on Sunday 4th September

North Watford BC hosted the play offs for the Reynard Cup - West Division finals of the county league competition.

Captain Martin Blomfield welcomed the West Division chairman Peter McNulty and the teams from Bushey, Bovingdon, Herts and Owls BC before handing over the green to the West Division chair for the event. Peter thanked the club for staging the event and welcomed the players and supporters from each of the clubs and introduced the umpire for the day Keith Whitehead. The draw had been completed earlier that morning and the semi-finals were as follows:-

Bushey v Bovingdon

Both matches commenced and were evenly matched, competitive and provided good entertainment for players and spectators alike. The result of the semis saw Owls pip Herts and Bushey beat Bovingdon as the heavens opened and everyone scrambled inside for lunch. The heavy downpour flooded the green in places and it looked like the final could be rained off, however, after a welcome lunch and a short break the skies cleared and the final got played in a relatively sunny afternoon. The final was a thrilling affair with both teams neck and neck right to the end. 1 shot separated the two teams and the last bowl played by Owls skip Steve Wheeler just failed to convert the end resulting in a win for Bushey who became the new holders of the Reynard cup and will now represent the West Division in the Ginder Trophy finals to be played at Garston Bowls club on Sunday 18th September.
